Modern, stylish guys pay attention to
fashion.
But they are not driven by it.
They also like tradition.
But they are not stuck on it.
They live, work and dress somewhere in
the middle. With a few options on the shelves for guys who want qualities from both,
the struggle to find essentials that are forward-thinking and flexible in the
way fashion offers and are timeless and grounded in tradition.
Enter Casbia
This is the
opening of Casbia.
Maybe it
isn’t one of the newest brands. But it’s definitely a new brand for me.
In 2010 former “Sergio Rossi” designer Edmundo Castillo and ex Hugo Boss
head of design Manuele Bianci started Casbia. Both are big sneakers buffs. Who
couldn’t find the proper sneaker based
on they’re style and age. The collections are aiming to cover every man’s
needs. New materials, fresh looks, good quality and for me one of the most
important things, a certain type of exclusivity.
Casbia released they’re first collections on
March 2010. Based on two things.
The first was : “The Ten Shoes Every Guy
Needs In His Closet”.
The second was: “The Four Essential Bags”.
Ten shoes, ten different type of shoes. Dress
shoes as comfortable as sneakers. Traditional shoes in moder ways.
Four bags with a sharper look, but also with
he functionality for the modern guy.
As said on Oi Polloi:
Taking their name
from a type of moth, Casbia make proper high quality shoes for when you want
something a bit smarter, but don’t want to look like you’re on the way to a
wedding.
Casbia use
classic designs, but aren’t afraid to shake things up a bit. Take their
moccasins for example — made in Italy using super luxury butter-soft leather
with a razor-cut sole, they’re more at home on the yacht than the canoe, in
fact these are just the sort of thing we’d wear when driving to the Monaco
marina in our Ferrari 308s.
After
seeing the spring/summer season, I’m having a few favorites all ready.
First
off is the Andy. A chukka moccasins. Entirely
hand sewn, a elk skin leather or calf
suede upper and a 4mm leather sole. Leather which is extremely flexible and
normally is used for children shoes.
With the extra padding and a comfort foot bed you get a shoe made for walking
without feeling those awful street stones.
The
sneaker/shoe blend. The classic silhouette combined with a thick rubber sole.
So you get the best of both worlds
Last but
not least is Bruce.
A low
moccasin. Based on the chuckka brother Andy. It’s like a native Indian world melted together
with the preppy yachting class.
Two Fun
facts about Casbia, is that all off they’re shoe models are based on men names.
And with every pair of shoes you get a shoebag.
